Uni­ver­sity Pro­fes­sor - salary grade W3

for the chair "Digi­tal Mar­kets".

This pro­fess­or­ship is an innov­a­tion pro­fess­or­ship, an instru­ment that was cre­ated by the Exec­ut­ive Board and fac­ulties as part of the Uni­ver­sity’s stra­tegic plan­ning and that is used to quickly and flex­ibly deve­lop and expand prom­ising fields.

Work­ing field:

The hol­der of the pos­i­tion has to rep­res­ent the chair “Digi­tal Mar­kets” in teach­ing and rese­arch. She/He must have an act­ive rese­arch inte­rest, pro­ven through high­lyran­ked pub­lic­a­tions, in one or more of the fol­low­ing areas: Digi­tal Mar­kets, Elec­tro­nic Com­merce and New Media (e.g., Inter­net, mobile Inter­net, Ubi­quit­ous Com­put­ing), Social Net­works, Vir­tual Mar­kets (e.g. Auc­tions, Pre­dic­tion Mar­kets), Shar­ing Eco­nomy, Value Gen­er­a­tion in Digi­tal Mar­kets, Busi­ness Model Innov­a­tions and Stra­tegic Part­ner­ships in Digi­tal Mar­kets.

The can­did­ate’s rese­arch should focus on one or more of the fol­low­ing rese­arch areas:

  • Mod­el­ling and pre­dic­tion of the devel­op­ment of digi­tal mar­kets in inter­na­tio­nal con­texts (eCo­m­merce, Con­nec­ted Car, Online Tra­vel, etc.)
  • Types of digi­tal busi­ness mod­els and impact of digi­tal mar­kets on indus­tries and the eco­nomic exch­ange bet­ween groups of mar­ket act­ors
  • Ana­lysis of user beha­vior chan­ges due to social net­works, the influ­ence of user gen­er­ated con­tent, the Shar­ing Eco­nomy, or the use of digi­tal inform­a­tion and shop­ping chan­nels, ana­lysis of cor­por­ate meas­ures to cope with beha­vi­oral chan­ges (Digi­tal Track­ing, Digi­tal Pro­fil­ing, Loc­a­tion-based Tar­get­ing, Loc­a­tion-based Ser­vices, etc.)

She/He offers teach­ing clas­ses on a high didac­tic level in the areas of “Digi­tal Mar­kets and Elec­tro­nic Com­merce“, “Ana­lyt­ics in Cus­tomer and Part­ner Value Man­age­ment” or “Digi­tal Stra­te­gies“ in the Bach­elor and Mas­ter pro­gram­mes “Indus­trial Engin­eer­ing”, “Busi­ness Inform­at­ics”, “Busi­ness Math­em­at­ics”, as well as in other eco­nomic and man­age­ment degrees of the fac­ulty, espe­cially the Bach­elor “Sus­tain­able Man­age­ment”, the Mas­ters “Innov­a­tion Man­age­ment, Entre­pren­eur­ship, and Sus­tain­ab­il­ity”, “Indus­trial and Net­work Eco­nom­ics”, “Innov­a­tion in Inform­a­tion and Com­mu­nic­a­tion Tech­no­logy”, and “Fäch­er­über­gre­ifen­des Stu­dium”.

She/He is expec­ted to under­take rese­arch and devel­op­ment pro­jects on a natio­nal and inter­na­tio­nal level, in cooper­a­tion with other chairs, espe­cially in the engin­eer­ing area. Rese­arch should be ali­gned with the stra­tegic rese­arch clus­ters and fields of the fac­ulty and TU Ber­lin.


Can­did­ates must ful­fill the require­ments for appoint­ment at the pro­fes­sor level in com­pli­ance with § 100 Ber­lHG (Ber­lin Hig­her Edu­ca­tion Act) [the inform­a­tion leaf­let will be pro­vi­ded upon request], includ­ing a com­ple­ted aca­demic edu­ca­tion, qual­i­fied achieve­ments in rese­arch (PhD), post­doc­toral lec­ture qual­i­fic­a­tion (Habil­it­a­tion) or equi­val­ent qual­i­fic­a­tion and ped­ago­gical didac­tic qual­i­fic­a­tions, to be given proof of by a teach­ing port­fo­lio (for more inform­a­tion see TUB web­site, quick access no. 144242). Proof of excel­lent rese­arch qual­i­fic­a­tions through high-ran­ked pub­lic­a­tions, exper­i­ence in acquir­ing rese­arch grants on a natio­nal and inter­na­tio­nal level, exper­i­ence with rese­arch con­sor­tia and inter­dis­cip­lin­ary rese­arch cooper­a­tions, inter­na­tio­nal rese­arch Net­work as well as extra­or­din­ary qual­i­fic­a­tion and experi­ance with regard to the pro­vi­ded teach­ing.

The will­ing­ness to offer Eng­lish-lan­guage teach­ing is also a pre­requis­ite.
